Meta Releases Muse Wonder AI Image and Video Models
Meta has released two new generative AI models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, expanding its push into AI-generated image and video content as competition in the space intensifies among major technology companies.
What Muse Wonder Does
The Muse Wonder family is built for generating and editing visual content, positioning Meta alongside OpenAI, Google, and a growing list of specialized AI media startups. Muse Wonder Full, the larger of the two releases, ranked second on Artificial Analysis’s independent benchmark index, a widely cited third-party ranking that evaluates generative models on quality and performance metrics, placing it just behind the current leader in that category.
Meta’s Commercial Ambitions
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has framed the Muse Wonder release as part of a broader bet on agentic commerce, telling interviewers that Meta is prepared to commit $100 billion to $200 billion to AI over time. The company has discussed integrating generative visual tools into advertising and commerce products, where businesses could use AI to generate product imagery, video ads, or shopping experiences without traditional photo or video production.
Where It Fits in Meta’s AI Strategy
Muse Wonder sits alongside Meta’s other AI efforts, including its large language models and a separate internal project reportedly codenamed “Watermelon” that remains in late-stage training. The company has also introduced consumer AI hardware, including a device called Muse Charm, suggesting Meta is pursuing AI across models, consumer products, and advertising infrastructure simultaneously rather than focusing on a single product line.
Competitive Context
The release lands in a crowded field. Google, OpenAI, and a range of well-funded startups have all shipped competitive image and video generation models over the past year, and benchmark rankings on indexes like Artificial Analysis have become a common reference point for both developers and the media in judging how models compare. Muse Wonder Full’s second-place ranking gives Meta a credible claim to being near the frontier of generative visual AI, even if it has not yet overtaken the top-ranked model in the category.
